Communicate with Impact
Storytelling: Your Communication Toolkit
I look forward to meeting you on 27 November. Thank you for making the time so you can take part in this workshop.
Find out about the workshop here and in the short video.
Over the 3 hours we will look at what you can do so your presentations are easier, more enjoyable and impactful.
I presume all of you are good communicators – your role as a coach would necessitate it. So, the workshop will grow on these skills and reapply them to the presentations you need to do with parents, players and colleagues. We are going to apply what makes storytelling effective onto how you prepare and put a presentation together, how you deliver that presentation and how you can think and speak at the same time.
But, to be clear this workshop is not about creating slides or decks. It’s about you speaking confidently, comfortably, authentically and with purpose, so you are heard and impress your audience. You will work with a set of practical tools that make us clearer, that get people believing in you, that initiate action, that make content memorable.
The workshop involves: talking in pairs, group discussion, me explaining a technique, you making some notes and speaking to try it out to see what it does for you.
You each need to come to the workshop with content to work with, so that by the end of the workshop you can have a strong first draft of a presentation and a good practical understanding of how each technique is useful to you.
Please choose a presentation/piece of communication you need to give soon (or one that you might have done recently if nothing is coming up).
For example, bring and be ready to work with what you need to cover in one of these 3 situations:
1. Telling Parents about the progress of the players and the team. Explaining and promoting the way CFC and the Academy are playing/ progressing.
2. Speaking to your players, pre match. Ensuring the message is clear so everyone has clarity and motivation.
3. Team meetings, presenting to peers and those senior to you on the progress and work being carried out.
Do also consider along with the information and content you need to include, your own key knowledge, expertise and insight from your coaching and observations.
