TheWholeStory combine the skills of a Theatre Director and a Storyteller,
with nine years museum experience, to offer a unique approach to answering
the training,
engagement and
interpretation needs of the Cultural and
Heritage sector.
The skills, techniques and performance of Storytelling offer an excellent
resource to aid interpretation, engagement, communication and interaction with staff, volunteers and visitors within Museum, Heritage and Cultural
settings.
We provide training, workshops and projects using storytelling because:
- Stories and storytelling communicate culture, explain meaning,
create context and demonstrate beliefs.
- Stories and storytelling bring people and objects to life.
They give
facts and information flesh and bones.
Stories allow the present to meet the past and the future.
- Stories and storytelling connect and share emotions,
opinions, beliefs and perceptions and
stimulate further interest.
- Storytelling is a unique experience
created by the relationship between the story, the teller and the listener.
This relationship creates a special
active engagement ideal for inspiring enquiry, sharing knowledge and stimulating learning.
“You create a supportive environment and are quickly able to read people so you know how to encourage them. I feel fantastic about my abilities!”
Janine – Education team member, Geffrye Museum.
