Situation:
Digital Public, part of the Engine Group, is an award winning consultancy that specialises in helping organisations design and launch new services. One of their consultants had taken part in training we had delivered for the Young Management Consultancies Association and asked us to devise a workshop for Digital Public.
Solution:
We taught them our process, which helped them to create and practice sharing stories as a communication tool. Themes included previous work accomplished so as to sell and explain their skills to new clients; updating a client on progress so far; explaining the role and expertise of a colleague.
Results:
The high energy, practical session went beyond the stated intention of learning storytelling skills. Many of the consultants work from disparate offices and do not often have the chance to meet each other, find out about each other’ strengths, build more of a unit and therefore be able to recommend or utilize each other to clients for specific opportunities. It was felt that the afternoon had gone a long way to redress this issue.
