CASE STUDIES, TRAINING PROJECTS, WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS:
The Geffrye Museum
A Family Activity

Situation:
The Geffrye Museum asked us to devise a family activity to help them kick-start the National Cultural Olympiad in preparation for 2012. They wanted a workshop that children of all ages could participate in with their parents that would make use of their handling collection and would encompass the whole world.

Solution:
We created a workshop that helped the children explore the objects, to imaginatively create their histories: Where did they come from? Who owned them? How did they get here? We facilitated the creation of a group story, before each child chose their own object to imagine and draw their own tale.

Results:
The Family workshop was held twice, with children seeing and observing objects in a new and fun light. They became carried away with their stories and their pictures showed deep concentration. The workshop also encouraged parents to interact and be playfully imaginative with their children.

"The first training session that I’ve ever been to that I can see myself using immediately. Fantastic stuff!!"
