Our Favourite Storytelling Games
A selection of fun, energising, confidence and imagination building games. These activities focus on the children's concentration, team-work, communication and expressive skills, physicalisation and creativity.
Activities can be just for fun or more structured, by working towards a short informal piece of performance. For example, a lively half-day workshop begins with an action/mime game for everyone to play together. From this game children choose their favourite actions/mimes to use as the content of a simple play, which they create in small groups, which they can then perform together.
The workshops encourage children to find ways of communicating physically, to work as a team to put a play together, to make choices and find solutions to create narrative and of course build on their confidence to express themselves.
These activities and games are a great way to lead into Literacy sessions back in the classroom, when the pupils each write up their play/stories.
